I wake up every morning to the sounds of a baby bouncing in her crib. We live by a ritual that has the major points outlined by meal times. The combined total of fishy crackers consumed in one day between the two of us is astounding. I stay at home with my daughter because it is my privilege and my choice. The way the world is working I will very soon need to get a job. Seattle is a very expensive place to raise a family.
I write because a lot of things are funny to me. I write because I have always written, and when I look at things the picture of them in my head is made out of words on a page.
I am not old, but the fleeting moments of life experience I do have hit me hard. Very soon I hope to have something to show for it. I'll be starting graduate school this summer and I thank Helium for providing me with an excellent resource to get my mind back into shape.

It should be very obvious by the countless blogs, online communities, and the fact that MFA programs are springing forth in every direction: writing is not losing any momentum in our society.
