About me - Sherry Law

About me

A Texas gal, Sherry has lived in central Texas most of her life - though she reluctantly admits to living in Ohio for about 18 months with her first husband. After moving back to central Texas, she met and married her current husband, Bill. They recently moved to Brownwood where she is trying to adapt to small town life.

She is actively involved in dog rescue; primarily primitive breeds, German Shepherds and hybrids. She and her husband have fostered over 20 dogs and been instrumental in saving over 100. They are currently the "parents" of 5 large dogs (65 - 150 pounds each). She also volunteers at the area animal shelter; walking, training and socializing dogs that have been abandoned or picked up as strays.

She and her husband were National-class competitive roller-skaters and at one time owned and operated a roller-skating rink. Her children grew up on skates and they have recently started teaching their grand-daughters to love the sport.

Sherry states that she writes "mainly to keep from making Bill & my kids crazy from my babbling about whatever is running through my mind at that point."

Briefly me

My passion is ...

Rollerskating; wolves; dog rescue; my husband & kids (not in that order of course)

I know too much about ...

The agony of defeat & not enough about the thrill of victory - yet!

My parents always told me ...

To do the best I could and then make it better.

My childhood ambition ...

To own a horse ranch as a cover for my life as an international spy.

My favorite memory ...

Having my daughter beat me in a skating competition - she was 1st and I was 2nd. But it was ok - I taught her to skate.

Why I write ...

Writing gives me an excuse for all of the useless bits of knowledge & trivia that I constantly accumulate.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

A cheesy paperback disaster novel/ Dexter / Pink Floyd

My first job ...

Babysitting - to earn money to go to Europe with my high school choir

My best moment ...

Knowing that I saved a dog that was going to be killed (every time it happens)

My inspiration ...

My husband, Bill & my lost-but-never-forgotten wolf, Kimba

I drifted into my twenties in the throes of a passionate young love and was convinced that there was no way anyone had ever felt the kind of love that I felt for the handsome young airman that I was marrying. Within a month of our wedding my mother lay in a coma and was buried the week of Thanksgiving. Three months later I was pregnant and my husband of less than a year was serving the military overseas. I was discovering passion of a different sort. Nine years, two children and a devastating divorce later, I had forgotten what passion was in the exhausted lethargy of being a single ...
