For as far back as I can remember, I have chosen the written word as my mode of expression. I have been writing all of my life, in one way or another.
I used to say that one day I would write a novel. In 1993, I followed through on that promise to myself. Since then, my love of travel has nudged me toward travel writing, as well. I'm now working on a travel related book that I plan to self-publish.
I've worked in finance, television broadcast and as a homemaker; but writing is more about who I am rather than what I do.
I love practicing my craft here, on Helium. I do take the ratings with a grain of salt! Admittedly, however, if readers here on the site represent the audience who will read our work, then Helium is a very real way to see what works and what doesn't work.
I have one fabulous son and three perfect grandchildren. These wonderful souls, and my husband of 34 years, are the great loves of my life.
It sounds odd to say that I only have one child. We lost our beautiful, talented, thirty-year-old daughter in March. One day I will write a book about our daughter's life; it will be my way of helping our six year old grandson remember his mother and the few years they spent together.
I believe that life is worth living, even when your perfect life encounters horrible tragedy. They say "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger; I'll get back to you on that.
My passion is ...
My husband and family. Traveling to see the world outside of the U.S., is high on my passion list, as well. The photo here was taken in Prague.
I know too much about ...
Losing a child. I wish I knew nothing about the subject.
My parents always told me ...
I could do anything I wanted to do, be anything I wanted to be.
My childhood ambition ...
To be a professional dancer.
My favorite memory ...
There are so many wonderful memories after 50 plus years of life. The day we moved our children into a wonderful home where they grew up, is a favorite day. All of the people I loved most were there: My babies, my husband, even my parents were there to help, as well as our closest friends. (You find out who your real friends are on moving day at about 4:PM. Look around, those are the people who love you!)I hope the best memories are yet to be made.
Why I write ...
Because I have to. Writers write.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
CNBC business channel for my business. Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Numbers, Private Practice, CMT Video Countdown, (love country music!) Ghost Whisperer, Medium and my favorite, House.
My first job ...
Baton Twirling/dance instructor
My best moment ...
The day my daughter graduated from USF and the day my son passed the series 7 broker's license exam. Also, the day after my husband's triple bypass when I arrived in his hospital room and saw him sitting up- I knew he would survive it and be well again.
My inspiration ...
Life
SOUL DECISION The soul of America has been damaged by modern life. Somehow, other countries and other cultures outside of the U.S. have managed to shield themselves far better than we have from the destructive influences of life in the twenty-first century. My husband and I like to rent an apartment in Paris and spend time living as a Parisian rather than as tourists. It is obvious that the French way of life is very different from our own. That, in and of itself, is the allure of living in Europe. Paris is a large, cosmopolitan city, yet Parisians manage to relax and to slow down and enjo...
