Permit? Really? Permit?

I am writing in favor of the government permitting religious decorations. But is it the responsibility of the government to allow or disallow religion? Ummmm... "separation of church and state". Ever heard of it? I vaguely remember hearing that phrase in 4th grade. Hold on. It's all coming back to me now.
