About me - Tina Hartley

Tina is currently enrolled in a degree program for Information Technology and proudly holds a 3.8 GPA. After a 30 year hiatus from academia, Tina states, "Exercise is good for the body and the mind!"

A mother of three adult children and a grandmother of four, she is the primary caregiver for her youngest grandchild, Jayvon, age 30 months. Tina stays busy learning with Jayvon; doing her homework, and writing. She is very active in the Marketplace and has had articles purchased by three different publishers.

Her diverse interests include; her grandchildren; gardening; nature; DIY home improvement; auto mechanics; computers; camping, and off road recreation. Her pets include a 10 year old small mixed breed dog named Phoenix and a 4 year old goldfish named Goldie.

Tina proudly serves as the Channel Steward for the Autos Channel under the incredible Senior Site Steward, Ann Marie Dwyer. Along with the awesome subchannel team of Sarah Sanuth and John Bibby, she is often behind the scenes working to help improve Helium.

During World War II the U.S. Army put out a call to manufacturers for a light weight, all terrain vehicle to transport troops. Willys-Overland and Bantam (The American Bantam Car Co) were the only ones to step up to the plate. Bantam beat Willys to the deadline and secured the first Jeep' contact in 1940.

The initial order was for 70 vehicles. The next 69 were slightly modified from the prototype and designated Mark II. Only one of the original 69 Mark II's has survived and is on display at the U.S. Army Transportation Museum in Fort Eustis, Virginia.
