I am an *ex-everything, having lived a very interesting life so far, but I always wanted to be a writer, imagine that.
*ex-everything list = US Marine vet, Realtor, machinist, truck driver, pilot, Charter boat Captain, painter, stock invester, home builder, Mountain climber, life guard, shipping room clerk, (not in that order)and now looking forward to being a bum...(sailor)
June 2008 I am sailing out the Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda on my 40' C&C Sloop. Wanna come along?
My home is near the Susquehanna River in Penna. It is surrounded by farmland and mature woods. I have too many vehicles, too many boats, perhaps I am addicted to machinery. I also seem to be addicted to adventure. I don't smoke but it is OK with me, if others do. I drink a wine occasionally, a beer with pizza, but mostly I drink iced tea.
I have dogs, like to hike, ride bike, and read. Helium is new to me, and so far I am enjoying being here.
Ooo Rah!
My passion is ...
Life itself. I love everyday, My friends say I can't sit still.
I know too much about ...
nothing. Each time I think I know it all, something changes and I have to begin again.
My parents always told me ...
"Take care of your little brother."
My childhood ambition ...
I wanted to sail around the world. I am working on it, but yet to go.
Why I write ...
Sometimes I write to clarify thoughts for myself, sometimes for others. For me "quiet time" means writing.
My first job ...
Worked in a sandwich shop when I was out on my own, age 15.
My best moment ...
The birth of my son
My inspiration ...
I am inspired by nature, the sea, the mountains, travel.
Children anywhere can be considered pests, when they ask too many questions. Adults tend to be more annoyed by inquisitive children, if the myriad of questions are distracting at work. At least it was distracting to the retired navy "hard hat diver" hired to investigate the leak below the waterline, of an aging yacht in the Miami River.
While at sea the yacht had been knocked down by rough seas, then suffered the loss of her mast but was able to be motored back to Miami. The yacht once was a fine one, now damaged and tired it was relegated to shore duty, pending repairs.
