About me

Writer-in-training, focused on one particular objective: "To give as freely as I have received". What I have to give is my experience and this experience is my testimony. The challenges we all face in life always lead us to a crossroad. We may not recognize this crossroad when we arrive at it; yet, it is there. And the path we choose will determine the life we play out. On the other hand; and at any point in time, if we do not like the path we are walking, we can choose to change it. In the physical world, we have to reverse direction and go back to the point at which we went astray. In the spiritual world; all that is needed, is willingness; in our heart, to surrender the "wheel" and let the all knowing Spirit lead the way.

Experience is our foundation to which we judge every new opportunity. This is our liability. Yet, man believes it is his greatest asset. Every moment of every day we "see" the world through the "eyes" of our experience. Our experience is always laced with the feelings we felt while experiencing that moment. This "feeling" becomes our director or motivator in which we react to the next moment; then in turn, determines the result. This is where man is blindsided. When something "bad" happens to us we tend to feel it as unfair or not "just". But; we live in a world that is ruled by law, and all "real" law is just. You will reap what you sow; because of law and because of justice, always in accordance to law. It does not matter how "good" you think you are; you will always reap what you have sown. Law guides this world; not our intentions or our perception. How these laws directly affect our thoughts and our actions have somehow eluded the mind of man and this has become my quest.

I am an alcoholic; having wandered many a wrong road, along this lonely destructive path, I have overcome several crossroads. My "isms" started long before a drink ever touched my lips. Childhood incest lead to eating disorders and severe depression. In my early teens; my mother sought counseling for me, and we were told I was an alcoholic in the making. The counselor stated at that time; "If treatment in any of the available 12 step programs was not considered, my future was looking bleak." At that time, her suggestion seemed a tad drastic; but, in the end, she was right. Perhaps it was my destiny; after all the bible states: "God will not give you more than you can handle", and obviously I am here. Here to write about it and hopefully help others sort through the struggles we all face in life. I have learned how to turn the liability of tainted experiences into the greatest asset of prosperity: Love! Love is the only power that will reap an abundant reward of success. Success is manifested as peace and joy. The key to unlocking this power is through forgiveness. The measure of our success is directly proportional to the measure of our forgiveness. In turn; the measure of our forgiveness, is the measure in which we can give. I cannot give what I have not of myself to give, and ultimately that is the measure of love.

My testimony offers hope to another; who cannot see clearly, in a time of darkness, "the light at the end of the tunnel". Sometimes; our only hope, comes from the shared experience, of one who has overcome. After all; if I can do it, you can too! I have endured many tests. Therefore, I have much hope to offer, in a variety of dysfunctional behaviors and life struggles. From marriage to divorce; obesity to anorexia; drugs and alcohol to sex; incest to date rape; abortion to motherhood; and seeming failure to success; along with the many "little" in betweeners, that get tossed to the wayside. Failure to recognize that a "little" yeast spreads through the whole batch; or in other words, a "little" unresolved resentment can manifest as a "big" mountain to climb, the cause planted so many years ago, we sit in a seething cauldron of self-pity. Is anyone as sick and tired of being sick and tired, as I was?

Is this world in which we live; the hand of God, or the results of our own "lack of knowledge? Mankind seems to be losing touch with the purpose of life. As his love for fame and fortune skyrocket; through a multitude of technological advancements, he defines himself "successful". Yet; he fails to make the connection, between wordly success, and the loss of health and moral character. Our headlines daily; tell of a world at war, in every aspect imaginable. Addiction, disease, war and stress are more the norm than ever before. Gain in one area; is loss in another, this is a law in our physical matrix.

In my own battle to seek answers for meaning and recovery, I have found a way of life second to none. It is my only desire; to help anyone and everyone, who seeks a resolve to the questions in life, we all want to know; yet, never really get answered.

I am working on several books, all of the same substance; yet, geared toward a certain purpose.

1)"Infected", my first book, an ongoing project deals with psychology and how we pass on our negative seeds forming a socio-economic society of destructive behaviors so prevalent in our world today.

2) "Vanity, Vanity, All Is Vanity"; a book geared towards teenagers, on the struggles of peer-pressure and addiction.

3) "I AM that I AM" a book on God and law.

4) "Created in the Image" a book on what it means to be born in the image and likeness of God.

5) "To this end, was I born" (title), "and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth" (subtitle); a book on Jesus, what is the purpose of his resurrection, our role, who is "The Christ" and what Jesus meant when he said in Jn 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life". No one comes to the Father except through me".

6) "Speak to it" a book of prayers and affirmations for effectiveness in all areas of life, by using actual prayers of those in the bible who manifested what they asked for, along with scriptures of thanksgiving and praise.

7)"Escape from the Prison of Our Minds" a book on addiction and idol worship. It is my belief that all mankind has something they seek to escape and therefore are in bondage to the thing they think will offer "freedom". Long before anyone ends up in a physical prison, they are already in bondage in their mind.

8) "The Way" is a workbook to use as a tool; in conjunction with "Escape from the Prison of Our Minds", to once and for all pull out the seeds of destruction, depression, and poverty that keep us in bondage, enslaved to our own idol worship. This escape comes as a promise from God, for all who are willing to seek his refuge:

Isa 48:17 "I am the LORD your God; who teaches you what is good, and leads you along the paths you should follow. 18 Oh, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling like waves. 19 Then you would have become as numerous as the sands along the seashore too many to count! There would have been no need for your destruction." 20 Yet even now, be free from your captivity, singing as you go! "Shout to the ends of the earth that the LORD has redeemed his servants!" AMEN

9) "Born for such a time as this" is an autobiography. The book cover is the picture in my profile.

I am working on a thesis. Its substance is of "cause and effect", law, and consciousness. Also, I have dabbled in poetry; of which, two have won "The International Editor's Award" on poetry.com.

As a newbie on Helium.com; it is my intent, to hone my writing skills, through the many topics available here. Embarrassed to admit this; but true, my weaknesses are in proper grammar and repetition. I also have a problem with going on tangents. The specific topics of article writing are helping my awareness to "stick to the point".

I welcome any and all criticism and am truly grateful for the opportunity to grow in an environment as encouraging and unprejudiced as Helium offers to all who come.

Thank you,

Rhonda

A Psalm of Devotion I am just a shadow beneath your might, alone in the darkness, I seek your light; Don't hold from me your glory and grace, this is such a greedy and troublesome place; Come to my aid for only you can redeem, with all my heart it is you I esteem; Hold tender your mercy for you do save, from the grips of death, no more to the grave; My salvation is come at the wave of your hand, Your justice is known throughout the land; This world is compared to a prison cell, deliver me from the fire burning in hell; To you I pray on bended knee, from this madness deliver me; All around ...
