About me - Tom Ontis

About me

I'm a retired social studies teacher.  I've been married to Shelley since June 21, 2008.  She is a teacher in Tracy, about 30 miles south of where we live in eastern Contra Costa County.  We are both from Napa, yes that Napa.

I graduated from San Francisco State in 1976, with a degree in Poliitcal Science.  I later earned a teaching credential from CSU, Sacramento.  I taught in various districts around Northern California for almost 20 years, before retiring in early 2009.

I'm active in Kiwanis, a community service group, rejoining the Brentwood club after my retirement.  I have served as Secretary and will become a Lt. Governor, where I will guide he efforts of 11 clubs in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.  I really like Kiwanis.

I write because it is fun and I can express my thoughts.  I've published on this site and others, including an SF Giants blog.  I'm a big Giants fan and have been since 1963.

That's about all for now.
