About me - Lisa Holloway

About me

I'm a big believer that God works through damaged people, and hope to communicate that in my writing. These days I mainly write, proofread, and chase an adventurous (and fast!)toddler. In my "past life" I've been a decorated sailor, participant observer for South Asian research, and worked behind the scenes in DC for international humanitarian assistance during disasters such as the tsunami. I have met and/or provided security for three Presidents and one VP. My husband and I are currently building a home in South Carolina to house our boys, dogs, and the abundance of family members passing through from time to time.

In terms of writing, I don't have a primary genre-thus the "Other" listing. I REALLY enjoyed the Genre quarter in the FaithWriters Challenge, particularly the SciFi and Adventure weeks. My short adventure story "Dharamsala Train" is slated for publication in an upcoming anthology.

I am professionally trained in direct response copywriting and Chicago style editing. Beyond that I have many years of hands-on experience in crafting corporate communications, queries/proposals, graduate-level academic writing, and editing and coauthoring government publications. I am also a personal historian. I enjoy writing Christian commentary and parenting/family articles and, like most writers (I suspect), have my Novel in works.

Religion & Spirituality > Atheism & Agnosticism Protecting the children from religion

It seems to me that when people suggest children need to be saved from religion or claim that religious people "brainwash" their children, the speakers deliberately ignore the fact that children are constantly being indoctrinated-usually by the world at large. Popular culture. Media drama. A secular viewpoint embraced by the schools in the effort to maintain a false neutrality-false, because it is impossible to be completely neutral on the question of God.
