Born in San Francisco, where Tony Bennett left his heart and little cable cars climb halfway to the stars. Grew up in DC, which doesn't have any good songs. Went to college in Ann Arbor-fight songs, gotcher college fight songs right here. Go Blue! After that I went to The Second City Training Center in Chicago. There are a lot of songs about Chicago, which is my kind of toddlin town, Chicago is. I'm in DC again, and there still aren't any good songs about it. Well, there's a shout-out in "Dancing in the Streets", but we gotta share that with Baltimore. That's life in the capitol of the free world.

I remember my first guitar. I got it when I was eleven. I got it along with my first lesson. It was three-quarter-sized with big thick strings. The tuning pegs were hard to turn and only got stiffer. After a few months I was using pliers on them. The neck bowed until it was barely in the same zip code with the strings. Eventually the pegs actually gave way under the pliers. The guitar teacher told my parents "She's ready for something better". I got a Yamaha. The tone was better, the neck stayed where it was supposed to and I played it through high school.
