I am again writing a column for a local newspaper and loving every minute of it. The pay is not fabulous but the reward of writing again for a publication out weighs the money.
I'm freelancing from my home and looking forward to having time to write more. Although I worked in a fast paced corporate office for a number of years, one of my favorite things has always been writing.
My columns allow me the freedom to write about gardening, opinion pieces, hard news, special events, personal stories, first person humor columns and much more. My mail response is great because people say they can relate to what I write.
One of my passions, besides writing, is growing cut flowers. This has led to a rewarding hobby by participating in the local Farmers Market on the village green. It's also a chance to meet and greet many interesting people and hear their stories.
This hobby has led to a wide variety of material to write about including organic gardening and growing green.
I hope to begin writing magazine articles in addition to the newspaper and writing here at Helium. My dream is to get a syndicated newspaper column or be a regular contributor at one or several magazines. That's the joy of writing, one can always dream. There are no limits if you are willing to put in the time and effort.

I am an avid reader, always have been and always will be. This means library books, books from Barnes & Nobles, books from Amazon, borrowed books, garage sale books, the big library book sale every year to name a few, and of course, magazines.
I know I get too many magazines. I have a feeling if you ask my mail carriers they will agree with me. That mail bag must get pretty heavy I've heard as much as 50# at certain times. It wouldn't be hard to add up to that weight if everybody on their route got just one or two. It's not all my fault th...
