About me - A. Jill Gaebel

About me

I consider myself to be an artist, poet, and romantic. I have been writing off and on in some form since a very young age. My mother was a writer and an artist. I feel she wrote very good poetry, although she wasn't highly published. With her encouragement and useful tips, my interest in writing grew.

I have written a few short stories, poems, and essays. I have a lot of opinions, and will frequently express them in writing. I like to use my experiences in what I write, hoping that something I share may be inspiring and helpful to another.

I'm expecting my experience on Helium to be of advantage to me with the exposure to other writers and useful information.

I used to think that I had to choose either art or writing and devote myself to my choice. I have since realized that, as with the love for my family and friends, I have room in my heart and life for the love of both.

I grew up in a time when WWII and the Holocaust weren't quite as much a part of the past as now. I remember that while I was still young, the Nazi war criminals were being pursued, caught, and tried. Some had taken new identities and begun new lives in places like Brazil, but the d...
