About me - Jason Lusk

About me

Books were my first love. When I went into music, at about the age of ten, I devoted myself to it but maintained my love of literature and, over time, fell more and more in love with writing.

After fifteen years in the music business, I retired from it for various reasons. Now I am totally devoted to my writing - mainly prose - and I'm currently looking for a good agent who can help me sell my first novel. (I have six written so far.)

Ancient history, myths and legends are my main topics of study. While I'm not a religious person, I am fascinated by the concept of religion. I'm also an animal-lover (I've raised dogs my whole life). If I had a religion, it would be nature.

Writing is the way I think. And since I'm a quiet but heavily opinionated person, I am always jotting something down. Writing is my preferred way of communication. I see tapestry within words, worlds within sentences, whether it be fiction or nonfiction. I never aspired to write; I just did it.

A man in his early seventies walks along the beach morning and he thinks, "I should've written a book. I always wanted to. I should've done it."

After seventy-some years in this world, he probably has one of two things, and possibly both: a head full of ideas and a ton of life experience. There's plenty for him to write about, if he can just sort it out. Perhaps he can have in words the dream he failed to catch in life.

Does his age matter? Assuming he's physically and mentally able to write, I believe it would enhance his words.

Of course, few of us are novelists. And I dare say t...
