About me

Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Tim relocated to the United States as a child. After his second year of high school, he ran away from his adopted homeland to Italy. Family troubles prompted his return after one year, and Tim came back to finish high school and begin his career as a professional musician in Central Illinois. He soon left the United States again, however, in search of a wider range of experiences. Living and traveling extensively throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America in the 1980's, Tim worked in such diverse environments as restaurants, tourist sites, cruise ships, archaeological sites, demolition crews and merchant vessels. He eventually returned to the United States to earn his undergraduate degree in history and Asian studies, a master's degree in Chinese language and literature, and complete further graduate work in linguistics. He then turned his attention to the law, earning the degree of Juris Doctor, as well as an MBA along the way. As one of three managing partners at a boutique litigation firm in Chicago, Tim compiled an impressive trial record, as well as several key appellate level decisions. In private practice he has handled cases in a variety of substantive areas, as well as two cases garnering national headlines. As a consultant to various industries, Tim offers his clients the knowledge base that comes with education and experience, the expatriate's broad and open-minded view of the world, and the litigator's eye for finding innovative, effective solutions to a wide range of challenges. When not at work, Tim enjoys camping, fishing, playing Irish traditional music, scuba diving and bicycling. He is currently working on a book on doing business in China and another on genealogy and family history. Tim lives in Chicago, Illinois with his wife and five children.
