About me

At first glance at my resume, it may appear that I was a job hopper. To those who retired from their one and only job and was given a watch at their retirement party, I am. But by today's standards, my career history actually looks pretty darn good maybe even quite interesting. In my forty five years of getting paychecks, I acquired intimate knowledge of international import & export business, the "steamship" agency business, life & health insurance sales and management, a major sailboat dealership, national executive head hunting, air and water purification systems business and self storage business.

From my first job out of college, I established myself as a hard smart worker. Problems and hurdles were positive challenges for solutions and ways to overcome them. When I was satisfied with what I've done, I moved on; never with a competitor within the same industry. I did not feel that taking what I knew to a competitor for higher rewards (however tempting the offers were) was ethical. I was more often recruited to go into a totally different business with fresh perspectives and because of my reputation and accomplishments. So in time, I've rejuvenated six companies that experienced difficulties.

There were many hobbies in my life; most of them turned out to be experiments or curiosities whether I would enjoy them . . . such as soaring, SCUBA diving, antique collecting, cooking, wood working, stamp collecting, playing the harmonica (the chromatic ones), power parachuting, writing and many more. The longest lasting hobbies are sailing, harmonica playing and writing. One day, I realized that the three hobbies had one common denominator - - tangible results with different levels of accomplishment and enjoyment. I've played my harmonica for churches, gatherings and senior centers, taught beginning, intermediate and advanced sailing at junior colleges and for the US Coast Guard auxiliary and written operations manuals for companies and career expo, various sales brochures, articles on sailing and a ton of business related correspondence.

The date of Retirement came and went on the calendar. The only change was that I no longer had to put on a tie and be at a certain place on a regular basis. Sure I relaxed for a while, but I am still almost as busy as when I was working full time. I am still active as a volunteer at the Police Department, but I now leave volunteer firefighting to the younger and more capable hands.

My first two kids are gown and very successful in their chosen field and I am exceedingly proud of them. My third child just finished high school and I am happy that he is in college part time trying to determine which direction he wants to go.

Writing is my passion. It gives me a tremendous sense of self worth - - a sense of doing something better than average and leaving tangible results.

A quotation that I recall most often . . . "May God grant me the courage to change what I can, serenity to accept the things I cannot and the wisdom to know the difference."

There is a raging fire within that is driving me to better our world for our future generations.

Arts & Humanities > English Language Should English be the official language in the USA?

Are We in America? Our forefathers fought against oppression and taxation without representation and won our independence. Their victory gave birth to a new nation which they named the United States of America. Since then, people from other countries came here for a better place to live, mostly in search for something forbidden or not available in their home countries. Simply put, other than our Native Americans, every one of us is either an immigrant or a descendant of one. We spoke other languages. It is an undeniable fact that we, the people of the United States of America, used to spea...
