A journalism graduate in 1963, I worked as a feature writer/editor on The Miami News, a member of the Cox Newspaper chain, until 1966. Moved to New York and worked at Scholastic Magazines, Inc., (also writer/editor) until re-locating to Europe (Rome) in 1971. I was Associate Editor of SOUL Magazine in Los Angeles from 1973-77, when I moved to Hawaii. I wrote dozens of free-lance travel articles from 1978 until 1995. Then, I began an import business from Thailand. I have traveled to S.E. Asia since 1985; my current collection of "articles" is simply a collection of these first-person stories about my travels.
Taking a "short break" in Southeast Asia is difficult, only in the sense that there are so many places to choose from. In Thailand, Bangkok itself is worth exploring for a few days. Between the river ferries, the street food vendors, the National Museum and old Palace, the Emerald Buddha (and dozens of other amazing Buddhist temples), and the endless shopping possibilities, one can happily spend three or four days in the capital city...before the air pollution begins to take its toll.
