I hold a PhD in ancient history, with minors in women's history and folklore from Indiana University since November 2007. I specialize in women and gender, folklore, popular culture in the ancient world and slavery. I also research and write about college education especially regarding teaching student history or challenging student notions about the ancient world. I re-designed the "Learning Strategies for History" course now taught every semester at Indiana University via the Student Academic Center. I am currently on the job market for a tenure track position in a history department where I can develop their ancient field and help promote the study of history.
Beyond academia I am a published erotica author with seven books currently under my name. I am also a human sexuality activist and educator when the opportunity presents itself. I am also one of the top 300 reviewers on Amazon.com and a leading book reviewer in the kink community.
My passion is ...
my writing and human freedom.
I know too much about ...
World War II - I'm an ancient historian but I've aided too many classes in the WWII period.
My parents always told me ...
be your best and God loves you.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be an author - I am, so I've succeeded in that goal.
My favorite memory ...
our 10th wedding anniversary party.
Why I write ...
is there a choice? My writing is the only thing outside of the Divine that I bottom to.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
depends on the day - I cycle between books for review, books for pleasure and books for my own research. Same for all forms of media.
My first job ...
babysitter - age 10.
My best moment ...
has not yet happened.
My inspiration ...
is my past. I am driven to never allow it to keep me from becoming the best I can become.
A year and a half ago I started a blog where I talk about chocolate in all its various forms. At the same time I made some important life changes to help my health. The result was that I'm eating more chocolate than ever but I've still lost over 30 pounds of unwanted weight, improved my cholesterol levels, evened out my blood pressure, and found more balance in my emotional life.
