After slugging it out in the trenches, spending the past 16 years as a police officer, I finally decided to let my creative side take over and give in to the overwheming urge to write.
I discovered the realm of copywriting, and was trained by American Writers and Artists, Inc. In searching for freelance writing opportunities, I found this website and was immediately hooked. I love writing informational articles, and recently I began to try my hand at fiction.
In addition to writing articles to post here on Helium, I have been writing content for a variety of websites. I'm also helping edit and market a self-help program on wealth building, and writing history-based e-books for travelers.
Aside from my writing, I spend my spare time with my favorite person on earth, my 10-year-old son. I also have two show horses, a dog, a cat, and a rat as part of my family.
When I was a teenager I worked in a pet store that my family owned. We had customers with every variety of pet imaginable, from the standard dogs and cats to more exotic ferrets and monkeys. Many of our patrons owned snakes. One Saturday morning, one of our regular customers came into the store and told us his python had gone into hiding somewhere in his house.
