Andrey Gidaspov has over twelve years of experience in business consulting in the IT and telecom (ICT) fields. From 1995 to 2004, Andrey worked as an IT and telecom sector advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassies in Central Asia and Russia. Andrey has sealed deals for hundreds of U.S. companies with Russian and CIS partners, ranging from start-up businesses to large multi-national corporations throughout Eurasia. His past clients in Russia and the CIS include well-known technology leaders such as Motorola, IBM, Tekelec, Oracle, SAP, Corning, Tellabs, Qualcomm, Net2Phone, Nortel, Andrew and many others.
Andrey has performed extensive market analyses on various ICT industry market segments, including broadband Internet services, wireless and mobile services (WiMax & 3G), and hardware, power and storage equipment. He has extensive experience in various ICT regulatory issues. Andrey has actively promoted and helped develop two successful e-commerce projects, U.S. Government e-portals BuyUSA (www.buyusa.gov) and BISNIS in Moscow and Washington, D.C. (www.bisnis.doc.gov).
In 2007 Andrey completed his first book "Riding the Russian Technology Boom," about rapid developments in the Russian telecom and IT sectors. The book is now available at: www.russia.futuretext.com and www.amazon.com
He also regularly contributes to a number of Russian IT industry journals such as InformKourierSvyaz, ComNews, PCWEEK and RosBusinessConsulting on topics related to mobile and general telecom industry developments in Asia.
In 2004 Andrey opened his own private consulting business in Hong Kong. In 2007 Andrey launched a comprehensive web-portal GidaByte (www.gidabyte.com) covering the latest trends in the technology sectors in Russia and Asia.
Apart from his technology expertise, Andrey holds a doctorate degree in political science from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, where he focused his research on U.S.China relations in the 21st century. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese History from Tashkent State University. He also completed a one-year intensive language program at Tianjin Normal University in China.
