Helium has provided me with an audience for my writing on a wide range of topics. Writing has been a central component of my professional work as a consultant and in my academic endeavours.

I author a number of blogs that include articles on a wide range of topics and am also the unpaid editor of a newsletter for a self-help support group. Member contributions are rare, so it's generally up to me to write and source material!

I was born in South Africa, but emigrated at a young age because of my family's involvement in the anti-apartheid movement. After living in Israel and the UK for a number of years, I returned to South Africa and have remained here ever since.

My family play a very special and central role in my life. My wife is an artist and nursery school teacher. Some of her work can be viewed through the link on this page.

My three sons are growing up and just beginning to make their own way through life. A new adventure, an exciting time.

I write on a range of topics where I have an interest and knowledge or where research will give me the knowledge. I also have some areas of specialisation.

Life insurance occupied a large chunk of my professional life. My involvement has provided me with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the industry and products.

My knowledge of business is derived from both my years of experience in the field and through an MBA which I completed at the School of Business Leadership (SBL) of the University of South Africa (UNISA). This has increased my level of knowledge and insight and I have retained some professional involvement in the academic world.

Other great life interests are music (I play the piano and guitar to an extent), photography, economics, religion, politics ... many of which are represented in my writing.

I have now been using the Nokia N95 1GB since November last year. I selected this phone because it has everything!

My experience of the phone so far is that it is wonderful but annoying. Wonderful because some of the features work really well. Annoying and frustrating, because after eleven months I still find it hard to use.
