As I take inventory of just where I am in my life, and where I want to go, I see that I used to be a different person.
As I have matured a bit, the very process of defining just who I am has grown rusty. When I was in high school, for instance, I sought to create myself, like we all do, modeling myself after a certain type. I was artsy. I was smart. I had the same features and clothes of most of this type of girl my age in the 70's. Long hair and Earth Shoes, reading esoteric essays and philosophy to beat the band.
The cliques that make up our world are real, just as they were in school. We have either been in one or another, and sometimes it is that yearning for acceptance that ultimately does define who we become. Unfortunately, as our lives stretch out before us we back-burner dreams and hopes, and, after a while, we abandon ideas of having enough time and patience to explore those important characteristics.
Life gets in the way, as they say.
My family was close as I grew up, with some of my cousins also becoming my role models. These were older cousins and I felt I was always competing with them, trying to catch up with them scholastically. Contrary to how I felt then, that we would always be a close family, we have all drifted apart. Only when someone remembers to inform me of some tragedy do we connect. This is happening more and more- the lack of inclusion in the very circles that I felt comfortable in as a kid make me feel like parts of my young life never happened. And there is a footprint of this young girl left behind- a shadow of a mountain that I wanted to become. Did those contributions help shape who I have become? It is distance and time that rocks us into abbreviation. I hope I never 'forget to remember' fondly how much fun I had.
It is just another case of the 'One Days'. One day I will call them all, and I am sure they think One Day they will get in touch with me. This happens to us all, not only with family and dear friends, but with the myriad of acquaintances that cross our paths over the years.
In the interest of this biography just let me say that I am the culmination of this background, and the effects of the unwarranted pressure we all face in this busy life. Do I need to mention all the pressure we build onto ourselves? At my age, with 'The Menopause' and all, grief over the smallest tidbits nag at me, and the worry over these 'nothings' can almost take away the will to go on.
A minister told me, on my wedding day "don't let the birds make a nest in your hair, they will fly by". My husband Daniel and I have laughed at this over the years, and questioned just what he meant, but I am beginning to understand. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Remarkably, I have again been drawn towards the things that make me tick. With my family and friends as my trampoline, I feel free as I am safely jumping high, being myself, tying in to what is directly coming from my heart. I say "safely" because I appreciate the underlying support and the knowledge I will not come crashing down. BUT IF I DO, I will not be alone.
So, Who Am I? Am I the sum of all the parts that make me loved?
I will take risks now, unafraid as I do things I may have passed up before, such as becoming a coffee roaster.
I have a website, www.RiverPathCoffee.com, dedicated to sustainable trade, and a site offering organic, or 'Natural Born' products, www.NaturalBornFood.com.
Selling these items, especially the coffee of poverty stricken farmers, and meeting people from all around the world has helped me know I am making the most of what I have got, with an emphasis on not wasting a moment of any day.
Through my life I have taken with me an interest, or an infatuation, with natural and organic foods. I feel good about using certified organic spices, and the difference in taste is incredible.
Dan is a seasoned chef who has perfected an organic blackening spice, 'Dirty Danny's Organic Blackening Spice'. The 5 oz. bag of spice blend includes step by step instructions and a recipe for an authentic Cajun style Blackened Salmon. The motto at Natural Born Food is 'Celebrate the Spice of Life!' I do believe that if you are not using organic spices you are missing the best taste.
I use ebay to sell as well, and ebay listings for spices have a recipe listed with the auction, so take a look!
When you find http://stores.ebay.com/RIVER-PATH-COFFEE, consider replacing those half empty stale spice jars in your cabinet with a certified organic spice assortment.
Of course you can order using the secure checkout on the sites.
I use ebay to showcase the coffees and spices as well as to build interest in recycled paper products, and other 'green items', like bagasse products- biodegradable paper-like plates and bowls made from sugar cane! You can also go green a bit at a time by trying an introductory package of unbleached, biodegradable Seventh Generation Paper Towels and recycled Bath Tissue. Seventh Generation is a company that specializes in eco-friendly products. The name for the company is taken from a quote of the Great Law of the Iroquois confederacy:
"In our every deliberation we must consider the impact
of our decisions on the next seven generations."
It is the time to begin to try to arrest global warming. Please take a liitle time and visit www.NaturalBornPlanet.com. to see some of what we can do to help.
I am happy to have had the chance to share with you my discovery of Fair Trade, shade grown, organic, and Smithsonian approved migratory bird friendly coffees. I would be thrilled if you checked out www.RiverPathCoffee.com.
How about horoscope coffee? If you have not heard of it yet. I based 12 'horoscope coffees' on a comprehensive guide of coffees and the 12 different astrological signs.
I love the idea of using the language of coffee to describe people. Are you 'winey', or 'mellow', or 'bright'? These coffees also come from a superior stock of fresh green coffee beans. 12 ounces of gourmet fresh roasted whole bean coffee is sent out in a degassing valve foil bag within hours of roasting. With each order of Horoscope Coffee I am including, for a limited time, 'Horoscope Coffee's Zodiac Best Bets For Love', an astrological compatibility chart.
What's your coffee? Get your daily Horoscope coffee at www.HoroscopeCoffee.com. Horoscope Coffee always makes a unique birthday gift.
A best seller, both on ebay and on RiverPathCoffee.com is my favorite coffee, 'Organic Freeq!', correctly known as 'Organic Freequency Blend'. I roast this a little darker to make the consistently luscious cup that I drink all day.
Thanks for the interest!
For more insights, and to see what is percolating inside my brain, check out my ebay About Me page and my ebay Blog. When you do go to my ebaystore to shop, look for the items with the 'giving works' ribbon. When someone purchases these items I am able to donate part of the sale to a great non-profit organization housed right here in Illinois, Pets For Seniors. PFS will place dogs with seniors without all the usual costs, and, if an owner has to go to a hospital, they will foster the dog.
