I live and work in The Gold Country of California. I am the President of a theater company for which I create, direct, and produce plays and cabarets. I am the creator of The Sultry Ladies and Red Hot Mamas: The Return of the Torch Singers. I am also former lead soloist for AKA, with the late Nicolas Robertson, and owner of SonofaBeat Music, we produced two cds in the 90's, Snow by EnVox, and Good Night Train by AKA.
I have begun writing in earnest in the last five years and have many projects that I am just winding up including four play adaptations, two novels, several books of poetry, and a lot of misc. I guess I finally started to feel I had a lot to say.
One of my projects is about my mother, one of only 200 children who survived a concentration camp named Theresienstadt that she was in for three years, when she was 12-15 years of age. She was not put into the camp because she was Jewish, she was interred because in a moment of defiant rebellion against the Nazi regime she refused to salute. I am compiling her autobiography, and have started on a play of her experiences.
I write about what I know mostly, and those I know. What I love about writing is it allows me an opportunity to immortalize someone. It is the most important gift I can give, to verify someone's existence and impact on my life, and to share those impressions and experience's with others. And as I age pen and page are becoming more vital to me as a conduit to the world beyond me.
