I am a teacher, a teacher of English language. It should be an easy job because I speak English and have done, oh since I was very very young. Though my mother regularly tells a story of being on the London Underground in 1972 and my brother and I, fresh out of Chipata, Zambia, spoke in Chizongwe as we dangled playfully on the overhead loops.
Still, I have taken to studying more and more of the subject I teach. So nothing is easy and nothing is taken for granted.
At the moment I teach in a university in the north of England and it is fine. I don't knwo where I will go from here...
