I've been dabbling in writing since my college years - a poem or two, short essays, and an erratic journal.
Now that I am a caretaker/fulltime mother for my two children I'm searching for something to call my own. Writing seems like the best vehicle!
In my former life, I was a college professor teaching wilderness leadership, experiential and outdoor education. I've led a number of adventure trips, traveled to (a few) exotic location, and had a good time doing it!
I was a successful professional, back in the day. I have an advanced
degree, and had earned a fairly prestigious job. I was chairing
professional organizations, and task forces. And then I decided to have a baby.
Once she was born, I almost immediately re-evaluated my decision to
work. The college that I worked at had no maternity leave policy, in fact
I had to teach extra classes in the beginning of the semester to ensure
that I could leave when I delivered my child. I had exactly 8 weeks
