I began teaching children to read while I was in fifth grade; and now, via my small business, 'MyStoriesAndPoems.com', I endeavor to help all the kids I can improve their reading comprehension and writing skills both online and in person through the use of understanding short stories and writing poetry.
In order to fill my time between poetry lessons and personal writing endeavors {of which Helium has been added}, I started a collection of 'Personalized All Occasion Cards' - including Thanksgiving and Christmas cards - which are available at 'MyStoriesAndPoems.com'.
After referring to myself as 'Silly Mommy' years ago when I developed my first website 'FunnyPoemsForKids.com' just for fun, I decided not only to continue the name at 'MyStoriesAndPoems.com', but to create a logo to represent it. I hope my Helium viewers will appreciate my choosing to post it on this 'about me' page.
My viewers who are fimiliar with StudyIsland.com may - or their child/ren may - come across a poem of mine entiled "MyShoes". This poem may also be view at http://www.angelfire.com/weird/funnypoems/MyShoes.html.
Although my writings may spark a bit of controversy now and then, I hope you will enjoy them, and appreciate my perspective.
I also hope you and your children will visit me at MyStoriesAndPoems.com

"Alien Baby"
My daughter
(I won't say her name)
Was sitting at the table.
She ate so much
When she stood up
Food spilled out from her navel.
Her eyes were crying red kool-aid.
Her mouth spat chicken soup.
Her ears were dripping chocolate sauce.
From her nostrils, syrup drooped.
I don't know how she ate so much.
Her body's very skinny.
That's pro-bab-ly why thick ketchup
Came oozing out her chinny.
Hole after hole
Grew in her face;
Like moon craters
From outer space.
I jumped up and ran
Just in case
Her tongue darted out like a gla-
Cier. I was like a scaredy cat...
