As a member of the "Teacher Cadette Corps", I began teaching children to read while I was in fifth grade. I would like to give a shout-out to the Hartford Courant and other newspapers for printing the story wa-a-ay back when - like forty years ago. Although it was a very long time ago, having the article to share with family and friends brings joy to my heart.
Today, via my small business, "MyStoriesAndPoems.com", I help children improve their reading ability - including their ability to understand what they read. I also help children improve their writing skills. MyStoriesAndPoems.com's innovative program helps children elevate their reading and writing abilities using simple, yet challenging, "theme-stories" and by understanding and writing poetry.
In order to fill my time between poetry lessons and personal writing endeavors {of which Helium has been added}, I started a collection of 'Personalized All Occasion Cards' which are available at http://mystoriesandpoems.com/greetingcardlist.aspx.
After referring to myself as 'Silly Mommy' years ago when I developed my first website "FunnyPoemsForKids.com" I created a logo to represent the silly mommy side of myself. You can see the logo posted at MyStoriesAndPoems.com and here with my "About Me" image.
My readers and followers who are fimiliar with StudyIsland.com may - or their child/ren may - come across a poem of mine entiled "MyShoes" when visiting that site. Just as I do when conducting in-person poetry-writing lessons, StudyIsland uses My Shoes to help children understand what they read. My Shoes may also be viewed at http://www.angelfire.com/weird/funnypoems/MyShoes.html.
Teachers and other educators can read information about my online and inhouse poetry writing pages including inclass contests for their students at http://mystoriesandpoems.com/teacherinformation.aspx.
I have created several Information "Zones" here at Helium.com. Exploring these Zones should give you better perspective as to who I am. The first zone link listed below will lead you to my poetry zone where you can get a better understanding of my education philosophy and my interest in helping children.

Kite paper airplanes are fun and easy to make. They're so simple in fact three-year-olds could make them. The only materials required for kite paper airplanes are sheets of paper and attentive fingers. For added craft like touches, however, you can draw on or color plain white paper before making the kites. Both sides of the paper may be decorated. If you want your decorations to look a certain way on your kite wings, however, it might be better to wait till after folding to add decorations. Another thing you can do is use construction paper or some other type of paper that's already colorf...
