Massively Multiplayer Online Role Play Games, or MMORPGs provide a persistent world for the player. When an online game is persistent, the game continues to exist, even when you're not there. This means that MMORPGs require different gameplay to a single player game. One of the vast differences in play style would be the time invested. Whereas you might be able to complete the latest installation of "Age of Empires" in a few days, a persistent world game is never truly won.
