Since childhood, Virginia Emrick has been writing stories and inventing characters for written and performing arts. She studied at Rowan University, UCLA, and the Academy for New Musical Theatre, and with award-winning songwriters Arthur Hamilton, Marty Panzer, and Harriet Schock. She won the "Barry Manilow Scholarship for Lyrics that Succeed and Endure" and was a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition and a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. She has had numerous performances of her work in musical theatre and has had poetry published in various magazines. She currently works as a freelance writer.

Sometime during junior high, a teacher suggested to my class that we start journaling. According to her, it was a great way to practice our writing skills but what she didn't tell me was that it would be my saving grace during my years of teen angst, my constant and unconditional companion.
