FIDDLER IN FAIRMONT First, A little History The 1920s roared through much of West Virginia just like they did much of everywhere else: built on what had been a world-war necessity, and then fueled by a post-war boom and peacetime industrial expansion, the need for coal and timber created a cash economy where virtually none had existed before. Transportation centers, along with coal and gas and timber operations, drew clumps of humanity out of the hills, and Fairmont, West Virginia, had all of it...enough of it to even have it's own radio stations.
