About me - Daniel Onyango

About me

I was born, grew up and received my basic education in Kenya. Having qualified as a teacher, I taught English language in several High schools for more than ten  years before proceeding to the University of Leeds in the UK for MA in ESOL. I have also  worked in tertiary institutions in the UK in the area of ESOL , and was a blog mentor at the Lancaster University UK .

I have a number of accomplished research tasks including 1st Language Transfer in 2nd Language writing. Currently  my area of research is Conceptual Metaphors and Discourse, a PhD thesis due this Autumn.

Away from teaching and academic work, I enjoy writing features, news and analyses for a number of print and electronic media. I owe a great deal to Helium for the opportunity to grow and mature as a writer.  I have published a collection of short stories 'The Scheme and Other Short Stories' by WordClay Publishers Bloomington IN US.

I've been married to Anne now for twenty one years, and God has blessed us with four sons.
