Welcome to the Mark Butler Helium Home Page and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and perhaps check out some more of my articles and essays.
After a very rewarding 30 year career in the Navy and 5 tours as a Command Master Chief I decided to move to New England. While I wrote many articles while in the Navy with over 100 under the pen name of Victor Rodriguez I had relatively few under my own name. I've corrected that somewhat and Helium has given me a chance to write on a wider variety of topics.
I'm happily married with two grown sons and two wonderful grandsons (twins). My wife of 27+ years is a wonderful grandmother and my best friend.
My picture is one of me doing what I like to do in my very limited free time.
If you find any of my articles that you would like your friends or family to read, please send them the link so they can visit Helium and my articles in particular.
If you are not a member of Helium and would like to write for this web site, and it is a good one, please drop me a note and I'll send you an invite. I know it is a shameless plug but if you accept my invite I get a small commission off of what you earn and it doesn't take away from your earnings at all.
Again, welcome to the my page, please read some of my articles and if you have any feedback please send me a note and I'll take it under very serious advisement.

The daily paper, woodworking magazines, news web sites, home improvement shows and classic rock.
My first job ...

My best moment ...

My inspiration ...
My father and my mother. Dad for his ability to simplify and Mom for her incredible patience in Dad and her three sons because we were not called "Those Butler Boys" for nothing.
While we cannot change how a person thinks, we can hold that person accountable for their words and deeds. To eliminate racial discrimination in the workplace involves several steps. First and foremost is that the company must write, publish and ensure everyone reads the company's equal opportunity policy and other policies prohibiting discrimination. Then, when a violation occurs it must be fairly and rapidly dealt with based on facts.
