: About Me

Like many of us here at Helium, being a writer is a long held dream of mine. Even in my early teens I can remember thinking... ... "one day I will be a famous writer"

Of course one thing that has held me back is the fact that I don't write all that regularly. It is like I am waiting for that something special that will turn my world around and invoke words to flow from me much like a rivers flows down a mountain. What I don't seem to realise is that every day there is something I could write about if I really wanted to!

I have been at Helium for a while now.  Though in recent times my participation could be likened to a hibernating bear. With any luck though my wintery sleep is nearly over and I am heading towards a vibrant and busy spring.  I have however managed to achieve some success as a Channel Champion and having an article featured on the home page. While my star rating is currently a little lower than I would prefer it has at times been hight and this is something I hope to improve in the coming months.  

My comfort zone is the Parenting section. I remember someone telling me once that it is always best to write about what you know. I know about being a parent. Not that I have been one for 20 years or anything like that, but after 7 years I have go some knowledge.

More than anything I like knowing that people have read my work. I feel there is not a lot of point writing if no one will ever read it. So if you have been kind enough to have a read please feel free to drop me a quick line to let me know what you think.

I asked my six year old daughter, what makes a good mother? I could see her ponder over this for a second or two and then replied "Being nice". "Yes" I said to her but what does being nice really mean? "Care about other people. Not just thinking about yourself. A good mother does not yell, or scream or carry on. They be(are) nice to their children" Unsure of what the answer was going to be I asked her "Am I a good mother?" Yes she replied without any hesitation. Smiling I had to agree.
