About me - David St. Albans

About me

I was born in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1954. My first encounter with writing began when I learned to read and discovered a world of books in the Public Library. I read voraciously and was particularly influenced at a very young age by the works of Edgar Allen Poe. Later favorite writers included Ray Bradbury, Robert A. Heinlein, H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Harlan Ellison and Stephen King.

I began my own writing first with poetry and songs. Then I wrote short stories, comic book scripts and free verse, moving into the realms of horror and surrealism. My first published piece ever was "A Song for Julie" in a small poetry chapbook put out from South Pasadena Senior High School in California where I moved in 1969. I graduated in 1972 having published some things for the school paper The Tiger. I was also art editor of the Tiger for three years. I am also a published illustrator and fine artist as well as a graphic artist. By the late 1970's I had moved from my first comic book stories in Fantastic Comics #1, to writing and illustrating horror stories for such magazines as 2 AM and Etching's and Odysseys. I also began producing my own small magazines, had some chapbooks of poetry done and printed and published some volumes of my surrealistic works.

I have had many editorial letters published in national magazines including the New Yorker and International magazines like Fortean Times. I have been a newspaper reporter and journalist for the Glendale Free Press. I have written screenplays, stage plays, melodramas, skits, and commercials. I now have two books out, one a journalistic endeavor about my spiritual experiences called: Speaking of Angels. And the other a 760 page novel about Dracula called: Blood of the Dragon: the Journals Of Vlad Draculya, The Impaler. Most of my recent articles have appeared in beth Robbins :The Gate To Strange Phenomenon and on Helium.com which I discovered last year.

I am currently living in Scottsdale, Arizona with my wife of 21 years and am fifty four years old with no children. I am currently working on three new novels and another spiritual book.

Health & Fitness > Infectious Diseases Living with Morgellon's disease

Synchronicity has always been a facet of my life. At times it can be rather surprising how things work out in just such a way that makes the event seem both positive and meaningful. In 2007 I had written an article on Morgellon's disease for a magazine called The Gate (a small-press magazine which is dedicated to various paranormal phenomenon and weird news from around the world. It is a smaller condensed version of Britain's famous Fortean Times). Usually I do illustrations for The Gate (now called The Gate to Strange Phenomenon), however the publisher, Beth Robbins, gave me the O.K. to w...
