I'm 32 and live in Cambridgeshire, England.

I have been a professional copywriter and marketeer for the past 11 years or so. I've worked for the technology giant Philips, international construction merchant SIG PLC and currently work for a well known national charity. Corporate copywriting has been an excellent training ground because, lets face it, if you can make roof tiles or guttering sound interesting you deserve a firm handshake - and I should know as I was the Editor of the UK's most widely circulated roofing magazine for over 3 years.

My spare time is mostly taken up with photography and, of course, writing. I am passionate about both disciplines and I get great pleasure from blending them together. A picture can say a thousand words, but a thousand words can conjure a thousand images...

I'm particularly interested in wildlife and travel writing and photography; but if required I'm happy to photograph a paper clip or write about embroidery. If the subject is boring to me I make it exciting by trying to look at the subject in an original light. It's not always easy, but like I say, my writing skills were forged in the furnaces of the construction industry so I usually nail it... ...sorry!

Why I write ...

Because I can articulate what I want to say in script better than in speech.

I'm reading 'A Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley, watching documentaries and listening to anything that tickles my emotions.

I had a paper-round for 5 years from my 13th birthday until the week before leaving for university

WHAT MAKES ME CLICK?

On the face of it wildlife photography is idiotic. How can something so exasperating, unsociable, expensive and time consuming bring joy to anyone but the most obstinate, fat-headed hermit?
