About me

Bob Welbaum

If Bob has a creative talent, it's writing. And if he can become a writer, it will be his fourth career.

First was a twenty-year sojourn in the U.S. Air Force. When Bob retired in 1990 as a captain, he was very fortunate to be offered a position at Tomart Publications (www.tomart.com), a niche publisher in Dayton, OH specializing in contemporary collectibles. Because he was a life-long Disney fan, he spent most of his time as Managing Editor of "Tomart's DISNEYANA Update" magazine. He also edited some price guides, most notably two editions of "Garage Sale Gold" which listed the most valuable collectibles of the 50s through the 80s.

But in 2005 it was time to move on. Bob went back to college to earn a teaching certificate in integrated social studies. Unfortunately, permanent positions have been hard to find, so he has been substitute teaching at several school districts in the Dayton area.

Bob writes when the spirit moves him. In the past he has been a columnist at www.LaughingPlace.com, a Disney fan site. He also belongs to the NFFC, the club for Disney Enthusiasts (www.nffc.org). Other interests include running and wargaming (the old-fashioned board games with cardboard counters). In 2010 he finished the ING New York City Marathon in 4:26:19!

Bob has recently published a volume of poetry through the print-on-demand website Lulu.com. For more information, please follow this link: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/bobwel.
