I was born in Canton Ohio a long time ago and moved several times, mainly to run away from myself. Fortunately, with the last move, I found out where I went and decided it was a good place to grow up. This is a good thing because my hair had gotten gray by then.
In my working lifetime I spent three and one half years in the U.S. Air Force, was an outside collector for a couple of finance companies, worked as a loan officer in a bank, spent some years selling insurance, and was first a Deputy Sheriff, then Under Sheriff of a small department in Western Montana.
In Montana, I also spent some time as a lower court magistrate and owned a restaurant at the same time as the judicial thing. Based on my Law Enforcement experience I found a job with folks that liked hiring people with law enforcement experience. I spent fourteen years on that job and left, supposedly to retire with State retirement. Somehow fate intervenied and I drove a special needs school bus for about 5 years which was a strange way to be retired. Along life's pathway I helped raise a family(actually my ex said she raised three kids and I was one of them) and I can't really argue with that.
I began writing in the late seventies and as you can see from my work history I never was able to write and give up my day job. On a positive note, I have had some short fiction and a few articles published and received money for them which is always a good thing. I've had one novel published (Guilt Trip, - now out of print) and have written three others which were either learning experiences or books written before their time.
Now I am on no one's payroll, collect retirement money and with the exception of my wife, our dog and our bird, have no one telling me what to do. I'm doing a lot more writing, playing with computer graphics and still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
Overall, Life is a great thing and I'm really glad I'm still here.

Credit cards. Are they the lifesavers of humanity or the bane of our existence? I vote for the bane of our existence. My personal opinion says that after Satan conned Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, his next best effort was when he invented credit cards. Most of us a deluged with offers from credit card companies. We know better than to get one but everyone has them. "No problem," we say. "I'll just pay it off every thirty days and it will be easier than writing checks." Then we get a late fee when we know we paid it on time. We might have sent the check on time but late fees are calc...
