About me

James Smock received a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC). He has also done graduate work at the University of Utah.

In addition to his studies with Dr. Robert Allison (SIUC) and Nick Norton (Utah Symphony), James has also coached with members of the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic.

James has performed with the Britt Festival Orchestra, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, and Oregon Symphony Orchestra, among others. Alongside his busy performance schedule, James teaches trumpet at Clark College
