As a teen, I sometimes wrote poems, but hid or threw them away. I didn't want to expose that part of myself. In 2001 I was introduced to the internet and also a writing site. I submitted a few very cheesy and amateur poems. This site had a contest where 20 people were selected. Each day we had to write a new poem per strict criteria. Each day one member was voted off. Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would even be part of the contest, but was stunned each day as I remained. I came in 2nd place and this contest was the beginning of my development for writing and for learning to expose what I'd hidden for so long. I've since won over 40 trophies on that site, but more than anything, brought to surface something that was always there.
I have no professional writing background, nor anything that looks great on paper. My writing comes from life 101, a keen observer, hard work and the sheer will to be better than I was yesterday.
I live in the United States, have three children and five granddaughters - all whom are the light of my life.
I enjoy writing, especially poetry, but have enjoyed the experience in writing various articles on Helium. I've met some wonderful people here and my overall experience has been very pleasant.

"Tied to a Mystery"
"People come into our life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime' - some remain a mystery"
it was autumn
but the season held more warmth
than spring
a new breath of life
as if yesterday never was
and tomorrow would always be
his love raised me up
every star possessed
the man in the mirror of my eyes
surrounded with preciseness,
his heart
a continuity of my own
I traced the contours
unveiling layers of grace
in a blissful scope
heralding an unspoken flame
in the purity of simplicity
each embrace honored
in a lover's sanctuary
allowing tender kisses
overflowing into ...
