: About Me

I am a 65-year-old mother of three of the most terrific sons on the planet - they are now 39, 27, and 25. I've been a nurse for almost  forty-five years now - in forensics for the last twenty-one years, as a sexual assault nurse examiner, seeing both adult and child victims of sexual abuse and interpersonal violence. I was on of 72 nurses that met in Minnesota in August of 1992 to form the International Association of Forensic Nurses and I have seen that group grow to over 3000 nurses world wide!

I have loved to travel my entire life - sailing to Europe as an Army brat when I was only four...I guess you could call that my FIRST cruise ( I've now done 86, all over the world! ) and I've been on the go ever since. Hopefully, my last breath will be taken on a joyous journey somewhere!

I love to write, poetry and otherwise, enjoy dining out, used to spend a lot of time cooking as my five hundred cookbooks grew dog eared, enjoy wine wherever I travel, cherish friends I meet along the way.  I've recently started blogging and that takes up a good deal of my time. My passion is ...

travel - and I have been blessed to have done a great deal of it...so far, 47 countries and 16 Caribbean islands!

I know too much about ...

violent crime and forensics - sometimes I wish I wouldn't have needed the job I had!

My parents always told me ...

treat others as you would like to be treated

My childhood ambition ...

to become a nurse ( I did that ) and a famous writer ( hasn't happened ) - though I did publish my first book of poetry in May 2010!

My favorite memory ...

standing on little skis in the Alps when I was five-years-old

Why I write ...

it helps me relax, keeps memories fresh in my mind and heart, leaves something for my boys to remember

love forensic novels, CSI ( can never get away from work!), listen to my friend, jazz singer, Sony Holland

a sales girl in the candy section ( yummy ) at S.H. Kress in Columbus, GA where I was born

My best moment ...

receiving an Achievement Award at our annual Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Forensic Nurses, that year held in the Washington, DC area

A Balinese Dancer Exotic and alluring, Each movement casts its spell, Evoking myths and legends, Such dramas she can tell. Swaying to the melodies, She drops down to the floor, With so much grace and beauty, It makes one's spirits soar. She twirls in a flash of color, Midst temple rhythms old, Wrapped in brightest brocades, Flecked in sparkling gold. Exquisite and dainty, Her hands have much to say, As she beckons to a lover, Then bows her head to pray. Her dances tell the stories, Of Bali and its past, Giving the world a picture, Of a culture unsurpassed.
