About me - Sam Ritter

About me

I have the tendency to talk a lot about nothing and write a little about a great deal more. Writing is where I gather the thoughts that my brain cannot cognize in ordinary verbal conversation. I guess that means that I should probably do it more often. ;) For some reason, I think it's harder for men to gather their thoughts quickly in verbal conversation. Maybe God just didn't wire us that way, then again maybe I'm just a different kind of cat.

I'm married to a woman who is many things. Gentle, beautiful, vulnerable, loving and dang near almost as hilarious as I am. I absolutely love all of these qualities about her. What has always been most striking to me, is her love for Jesus Christ. Even before I was a Christian I was drawn to people that were but often felt like I didn't fit the mold. Maybe it was poor assumption on my part, bad experiences with others or a combination of the two but the big guy knocked on my door in 2004 and I had to open it. Not like I could act like I wasn't home anyhow.

I love animals but don't want any. I love sports but never played any one for a long period of time. I'm probably guilty of developing opinions early and sticking to them. What you might deem as inflexible I see as certainty. Ask me for a specific example and I can probably throw one out there in a matter of seconds. I began my short career in Consumer Electronics and did really well as a Sales Manager for the largest CE retailer in the U.S. for five years. I eventually left and have pursued a real passion in sports.

I've been through a lot in life, especially as a child. I was born with a physical affliction that should have left me in a wheelchair, but I walk. I was abandoned by my father after my parents divorced when I was seven, leaving me with holes that only my real Father could fill. I was sexually abused for years by two different men as a child, I boldly wear those scars and unashamedly tell my story. Yes, it hurts something fierce but God's best work is often seen in what appears to be the worst of situations. I'd like to think I'm a genuine person and I strive for transparency in my life. I'd challenge you to find another "About Me" that rivals this one.

I enjoy writing about Consumer Electronics and Sports but can throw out some good poetry in a matter of a few hours. I certainly am up to any challenge that presents itself. As a kid growing up, I certainly had my share of greens. Growing up, there always seemed to be this huge pro-veggie movement and in light of my parents creativity in marketing the many benefits of going green on the diet, children are intrinsically wired to loathe every ounce of leaf that touches their dinnertime palette. Consider more the many myths surrounding the world of vegetables; the lies about vegetables that continually get passed down from generation to generation like that Christmastime fru...
