About one year ago, I visited a day spa for the first time. I had scheduled a facial while on vacation, and I had no idea what to expect. I assumed that the experience would be more clinical-somewhat like a less-painful visit to the dentist. I could not have been more wrong. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionist handed me a numbered key and directed me to the locker room. She informed me that I would find slippers and a robe in the locker and that when I had changed I should relax in the waiting room. This threw me for a loop.
