Born into an Irish Catholic family, I am one of eight children. We lived what today I would call, a healthy and active childhood, because money was scarce, my mother needless to say, did not work outside the home, and my father was in the military. Therefore, my 6 brothers, baby sister and I had to entertain ourselves, and we did so in healthy outdoor activities and sports with our friends. It was an amazing childhood, and only now do I see how truly blessed we were to have been given that opportunity. My father was stationed in Prince Edward Island and I spent the first thirteen years of my life on that tiny Island; I was lovingly called "Little Annie," because of my copper red hair and freckles.
My family was then moved to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, where I lived most of my life before moving here to Toronto. I was married and have two beautiful, intelligent daughters with successful careers and successful and beautiful families. Who could ask for more out of life?
That I write and am a voracious reader is too funny, because throughout my lower school days and even into college - I disliked both, immensely. Never tell the Lord "I'll never do that," for chances are that's what you'll end up doing, and thankfully you will love it.
I'm grateful to have "uncovered" Helium, and through this forum am uncovering more things I didn't know about myself, and meeting wonderful people who encourage with praise and helpful hints on how better to present ideas.
I've even started my own web page where I blog away to my heart's content, to no one there, or, to...who knows! It's a great way of expressing yourself and I've journalled most of my adult life, and in the course of doing so, crafted ideas and poetry that have made their way into just under two complete books of prose and poetry.
I love writing and love reading. Who would have thought!
My passion is ...
Encouraging others to be the best they can be!
I know too much about ...
Not a whole heck of a lot!
My parents always told me ...
You go girl!
My childhood ambition ...
funny, I think I wanted to be just like my 6 brothers. Wonder how I'm doing?
My favorite memory ...
The birth of my 2 daughters.
Why I write ...
because I love writing; I love to speak, to express and it seems so natural to do so expecially when I am passionate about a subject!
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Lately I'm doing a lot more reading than usual; and I have always been an avid reader. I've turned "metaphysical" I think - things like What the Bleep Do We Know...spirituality, energy of life, etc.
My first job ...
A secretary on a military base in a facility of 500 men...and just me, an 18 y.o. naive young girl! You can imagine the kinds of times that made for....except for the fact that my father was their boss!
My best moment ...
When I gave birth to my first daughter and then my second daughter. Those are life time treasures.
My inspiration ...
My inspiration is very spiritual indeed.
You Are You are the twinkle in the eye of the flower as you pass by in the early morning dawn with the beginning of a day that says, “Welcome to your new life.” You are the first glow of the rising red sun that has just begun its life for the first time, dawning on a world that is sometimes unfriendly but mostly kind. You are the stars at night that whisper to one another as they watch the setting sun turn out its light and the hazy glow of the moon begins to shine. You are the vagabond, the beggar, the executive in the ivory corporate towers built on the sweat and blood of the...
