About me - Jesse Cortese

About me

I am a mother, a friend, a child at heart, an addict and a musician. I've been playing drums since I was 10, I also play bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and piano. I love music and I try to learn any instrument I can. I love writing lyrics, poems and anything that gives me the opportunity to be creative.
I am a statistic when it comes to family life. I have one parent; a schizophrenic mother. No father, no siblings. I grew up as a state ward; moving from foster homes, group homes, institutions, etc. Of course with no "father figure" I fell in love with the first guy who came along. We got married; I was 17 and he was 18. Stupid, I know. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl shortly after we were married. Needless to say, the marriage didn't last.
I became addicted to "uppers" and ended up in jail for quite sometime. I was 19 and spent over a year locked up. When I returned to the outside world, I cut off all ties with old "friends", started over with my daughter and turned my life around.
I have since started a family with a wonderful man who raised my daughter as his own and together we have two boys.
I have yet to catch a break in life, but I keep pressing toward my goals and dreams.
