I'm a writer and an entreprenuer with a God given hunger to be creative. An illness forced me to give up a homebased Art Illustration business a few years ago. It turned out to be a blessing. I began to write.
All my past experiences seem to have led me here, from a major in college as an English Communication Major and then changing to Radio and Television production and then Commercial Art School. I dropped them all to pursue my hunger as an entrepreneur.
I created and marketed my own line of note cards; designed and sold handmade, hand painted carpenter bags; hosted Christian Business Seminars; published a newsletter; worked as a Community Garden Coordinator and even managed apartment buildings for a non-profit organization. That's the short list.
I was driven by a desire to stay home and raise my two sons. I love home and it is always my base of operations. My sons are both grown now. Adventure, creativity and curiosity are important to me and continue to under gird my pursuits as a writer.
I believe every experience in my life has led me to become a writer. I love what I do. It's a blessing in itself. Developing on line writing skills is a challenge. It takes tact sometimes and I don't have a full cup of that. If you follow my writing on line you'll quickly find that out. But who knows, it may just become an asset.
My hobbies are gardening, collecting birdhouses, reading, walking and home decorating. I love traveling by car.
My favorite vehicle of all time was a 1988 GMC Van. That thing traveled well. I haven't done much traveling in a few years now. But my last travel adventure, a career consultant after listening to me speak, told me I should consider becoming a travel writer. Funny what other people see isn't it?
My favorite song at the moment is by Oren Lavie: Her Morning Elegance.
If you want to find me just search on line: Vanessa D. Alexander. Believe me, it's much easier that way. Have a great day!

The writer's mind is territorial. We must own not only what we write, but where ever we write, even if for a season. We lay claim to strange places, like the stalls of bathrooms, closets, park benches and dining room tables. We pour out treasure on bathroom tissue, paper bags and the backs of envelopes.
A writer's mind is a place of both joy and despair. A writer is both obscure and social, in a misfit kind of way. In the writer's mind, a pebble on the ground becomes part of a plot. Rain pellets a roof, becomes a scene, the tension mysteries are made of.
