My name is Kathleen Revoy. I was born in Toronto and grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I was raised in a family that lived modestly and encouraged us to respect others, be kind, and live a moral life. I loved music and became a piano teacher. Up until I married I lived a very peaceful life and thoroughly expected that to continue. Unfortunately I was mistaken. I did give birth to three beautiful, healthy boys and I love being a mother. When my youngest son was two we all had a flu that the doctors were never able to identify. The older boys got well quick enough but my little one was left blind and with no mobility though still bright. I was also left blind for about six months. By the time he was four he had learned to sit quite well and he first began to comprehend that he was different. When he was eleven he could almost walk but then he began to deteriorate. It turned out that he had four tumours in his head and required surgery to remove them when he was thirteen and eighteen. I worked hard to take care of my boys and support them till recently when I had a burn out. This has led to many other health concerns but I still care for my boy and my middle son and his family lives in the same house with us so we can help each other. Now I am turning to another love, writing. Of course, I have much to say about the rights of those with special needs. The need for respect, tolerance and support from the rest of us while we are still able ourselves.

The old tale goes that long ago There was a little child, That came wandering all alone, Out from among the wild. He was a bonny little lad, Who's age no one ever knew. While on his way he felt quite sad And very lonely too. There also was a couple too, Childless, poor and old in years. In their heart they somehow knew There'd be an answer to their tears. Then one day, off down the lane, The little lad did wander. He saw the old man with his cane, Alone...
