Tea is a simple beverage that has been ritualized around the world. The earliest tea consumption was in China, where it was described as early as 600BC by Laozi as an ingredient to the 'elixir of life'. Tea is made by steeping leaves in hot water, but this description doesn't even begin to touch the variety of teas and the elaborate cultural and religious customs surrounding tea.
