What a great question!

It's not that we actually care for celebrities it's more that we waste so much time reading about them and watching all their doings - that's the big issue here. Because most celebrities are just ordinary people doing a bunch of stupid stuff to catch everybody elses attention. Already at the school yard you see the same tendencies. Some kids spend all their time doing crazy stuff to be noticed. Most of them actually get the attention because they are skilled at sports or whatever and we all want to be skilled at something.
