My home includes two adults, wife and myself, our small dog, big cat and three birds. Two blue and gold macaws, Caribe and Bravo and one African Grey, Augustus Greyus Magnificus. All are males.
The birds run the house. Our job is to tend to them, entertain them, feed and water them and provide companionship for them.
I write about birds. Having just found Helium, I have several "articles" to share that were originally written for the newsletter of a bird club we belonged to. Don't belong any longer, but that's another story.
Being owned by birds is pretty great. They're benevolent despots and as long as everything is going THEIR way, it's smooth sailing in the home. We, the humans, work to keep it that way.
We live in Tallahassee, FL. Have for about 10 years. Long ago, in another life, I was in the Air Force, from which I retired. We've lived in many regions of the world, Europe, Middle East, several States in the Union.
That's it for now.

Truth is, as a nation, we are failing our citizens in need. Truth is, as a people, we've become cold and callous about the ills and infirmities that our fellow citizens suffer from and live with every day. Truth is I'm ashamed of us, myself included, for how short-sighted we are about the health, well-being and welfare of our senior and disabled citizens. At the State level, in this State anyway, the "service programs" are financially depleted and fundamentally useless as the "cushion" mentioned interminably that is supposed to be there for the "most needy." Let me tell youour "most needy"...
