About me - Darlene Prickett

About me

About me? My name is Darlene and I'm a writer, of course, and always have been. I'll be a mom soon, too, but not in the traditional sense. My husband and I are going to adopt a special needs child. We don't care what age, or the sex. At the end of the day, we just want to provide a home for children who need a mom & dad.
I'm sitting here thinking of what my hobbies are. I refuse to call my writing a hobby, because one day I'd like to make money doing it. I've written 5 books. One picture book, two books for middle grade readers, one mystery, and a drama. You know what they say- it's easier to win the lottery than sell a book! It's my fault really. I get a couple of rejections, get frustrated, and start something new. I also have 11 other books that are in the works or at least running around in my head.
I guess I like to read. I enjoyed all the Harry Potter books and I like pretty much anything by Dean Koontz. Other than that, I have a hard time getting into books. I find myself critiquing rather than enjoying.
Oh, yes! I can't forget my obsession for good movies and television.
