About me

Chetachi A. Egwu, Ph.D. is a native of Buffalo, NY and is of Nigerian heritage. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Buffalo in 1996.

Chetachi then headed to Howard University in Washington DC in 1996 to pursue graduate study in mass communication. After completing her Masters in 1999, Chetachi entered the doctoral program at Howard and discovered three new passions: dance choreography, volunteering and the professoriate. She became actively involved in the dance scene in Washington as member of Carla and Company, Coyaba Dance Theater and Choreographers' Collaboration Project, and danced in other numerous projects. Chetachi completed her Ph.D. in Comunication in May 2005. She recently choreographed a full evening dance concert in Fort Lauderdale FL, and serves on the advisory boards of Ballet Gamonet, Broward Center of Dance and Live in Color Dance Collective.

Chetachi also has volunteered with numerous social service organizations in Buffalo, NY and Washington DC and is currently active with both Volunteer Broward and Hands on Miami. In terms of teaching, her calling to the college classroom came during her doctoral studies as a teaching associate. Since then, Chetachi has served on the faculties Morgan State University and The George Washington University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Communication at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
