I was born a little over a half century ago in western Massachusetts; Daniel Shays country. I have been married half that time to my college sweetheart, Anita.
My forebears came here from Lithuania, Canada, Ireland and Italy; they represent the many ethnicities (North American Indian and European), which make up the peoples of those lands. I grew up blue-collar Roman Catholic, but left the Church and Christianity behind in 1975.
My parents and extended family sought to help me grow up to be my own man. This is a task my dad has said they did too well (with a little chuckle, though).
My faith is called Asatru and it does inform how I live my life.
The center of this is the belief in and worship of the Aesir and Vanir; the Holy Ones of the elder Germanic and Nordic peoples.
From the ethical standpoint I have learned from Asatru; I seek to do that which is right for family, friends and community, with wisdom, generosity and personal honor. Sometimes I do come up short.
I cook, brew, sew, make craft items in leather, cloth, wood and metal, read, write and more.
In my faith community I have gained some note as a poet.
Most of all, I am interested in good conversation.
My passion is ...
being a good husband to my wife.
I know too much about ...
so many things.
My parents always told me ...
to learn and to think for myself.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be a published author.
My favorite memory ...
is of sitting in a treestand while hunting and having a kestrel land five feet from me.
Why I write ...
because I must; something inside pushes me to do so.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
currently I am reading the "Lost Regiment" series by William Forstchen
My first job ...
was after Kindergarten each day. I swept the front stoop and sidewalk area of my maternal grandparents' shoe shop.
My best moment ...
according to my wife, is when I am sleeping without snoring.
My inspiration ...
is almost everything I experience. Life is full of poetic significance.
[[One of the list to which I subscribe discusses the modern worship of the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus. They have been having a discussion on the attitude of native Hellenes towards their religion and heritage. - Pip]] If I may? I am here (and in Nova Roma) because part of my heritage lies amongst the Latin, Italic and Hellenic peoples. Therefore, I do give some of my honor and respect to the Capitoline Holies and to the Olympians. I am a follower of Asatru (the belief in and giving of worship to the Aesir and Vanir of the northern Germanic - Scandinavian peoples) because most of my heri...
